Three Churches

While in Santa Fe (and the surrounding area), I visited four churches: Loretto Chapel, St. Francis, San Miguel Church, and El Santuario de Chimayo. I got some good pictures of all of them except for St. Francis, so I thought I'd share:

LORETTO CHAPEL: This church is located right next door to the Inn and Spa at Loretto, where I stayed. I could hear the bells chiming the hour during the day, and first thing in the morning, I could hear crows cawing from atop its roof. It's known for its staircase, which miraculously was built without any structural support. This church was so beautiful inside that it filled me with appreciation of its loveliness and a wave of emotion that accompanied my gratitude.

SAN MIGUEL CHURCH: This was my favorite place I visited on this trip. It's the oldest church in the US and has a strong, firm vibe of peace. Perhaps this was due to both its age and all of the fantastic archangel imagery.

EL SANTUARIO DE CHIMAYO: There were no photos allowed in this sacred space. The interior of the church disturbed me. It was filled with bloody crucifix imagery. People travel from all around to pray here and take with them a type of healing "holy dirt." I felt a sense of collective agony and also believe the place to be haunted as I had a ringing in my right ear when leaving the location.

Winged Demon Picture

You all may have seen this picture floating around online, and I have my suspicions that it's probably a fake (so much is these days), but what kind of angel book author would I be if I didn't share it here?? Looks like it could be Malynko or Laphelle!

Happy 2017! ;)

My First College Football Game!

My sister-in-law invited me to go with her to the TCU football game last night, and it was so much fun! The stadium was gorgeous. The fans were totally devoted. And the game was intense! Even though we lost, it was still a heck of a game, going into not one but two overtimes. Although I didn't attend TCU, I'd like to now think of myself as an honorary Frog :)
